Emberfall Chronicle
Emberfall Chronicle packs a surprising amount of RPG into a phone. Combat is turn-based with a timing element — nail the tap window and your attacks hit harder, which keeps you watching the screen instead of autobattling. The party of five all have their own storylines, and the game is smart about weaving them into the main quest.
The writing is the standout. Conversations actually branch in ways that stick, and a choice I made early on came back to bite me around the ten-hour mark. Progression is generous without being mindless; you can respec characters cheaply, so experimenting never feels punished.
My only complaint is that the menus try to do too much at once, and the font is tiny on a small screen. Push past that and there's a genuinely satisfying little role-playing game here, the kind you usually only find on consoles.

- Timing-based combat that stays engaging
